Dr. Lefter J, Baklas began his pursuit of dentistry in 1973, earning a bachelors of science at Iona College and Stony Brook College, both located in New York . He then went on to Tufts University Dental School in Boston where he graduated in 1981 as a Doctor of Medical Dentistry. Soon after graduation Dr. Baklas' professional experiences began as a Commissioned Dentist with the National Health Service Corps in Colorado . He then became a Dental Associate with a group of professionals in Denver, Colorado. After spending the first few years of his career in Colorado, Dr. Baklas moved to Alvin, Texas to open his own practice that provided comprehensive general dental care. In 2002 he became associated with “The Dentists” in Bastrop, Texas where he primarily performed surgical procedures as well as general dentistry. Along with working in Bastrop, he became an associate with another doctor in Stockdale, Texas, also providing surgeries and general dentistry. Now Dr. Baklas resides in San Antonio, Texas , owning his own practice since 2004. While managing his own office Dr. Baklas, spends time at Kaplan College of Medical and Dental Assistants teaching dental assisting students while providing general dentistry to the underprivileged population. Throughout the years of being a Dentist, he was with the 4005th Dental Detachment, Army Reserves where he was called up for Active Duty with Desert Storm and volunteered for Humanitarian Missions in Latin and South America, 1978-1994. From 1995-2000 he was the Chief of Dental Services with the 149th Air National Guard Unit at Kelly/Lackland AFB where he was head of the Dental Section. From 2000-2005 he was again Chief of Dental Services but with the 433rd Air Wing at Kelly/Lackland AFB as the head of the Dental Section. Dr. Baklas retired in August 2005 after 20 years of military duty in Reserves and Active Duty.
